Blogger is Better

I am fascinated by how much one website can change within four years. Blogger has so many more knick-knacks, though I supposed we call them apps these days. I just want to let you know about e-mail updates that I put on the right side of the page. And this isn't anything special formatting wise, the content certainly is, but please notice at the bottom of the page a link to the Digital Bach Project.

The Oregon Bach Festival has created this amazing learning tool (it's not just for kids). On this sight you can listen to the entire B-Minor Mass while following along in the original score. If you select "cuepoints" little points will appear on the score in respective places. Click on a link and you will be sent into another room of information; sometimes it's a history lesson in church liturgy, sometimes it's a video of a Helmuth Rilling lecture from the OBF Discovery Series. I encourage you to take a look, have fun, and listen to the beauty that is the B-Minor Mass.

Even though I should be trying to learn the history behind the piece, I usually just go their to listen. It was so handy to have when preparing my music, because I can start and stop on any measure. None of the guessing by the approximate seconds in a standard media player time bar.

Enjoy the Bach, or should I say [bax]. For those of you puzzled by my title, [x] is IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) for the clearing of the throat sound in German. It shows up in words with "ach" or "och". Since I will be making that sound, or at least hearing it more often, I thought "The [x] files" would be an appropriate title.
